I bought my T2010 in Australia in late 2007 and I am still running the 1.02 BIOS. I plan to upgrade to Windows 7 however want to get the latest BIOS before I do.

I have found in the forums, version 1.08 exists on the US site but cant find it anywhere else.

Is it safe to use this US version of the BIOS

    Why not?
If you still doubt that it will work contact the Fujitsu service, but there shouldn't be a difference between the BIOS versions of the T2010.

My concern is that if the BIOS is not compatible I will turn my T2010 into a brick as I have no way of undoing the BIOS update.

When I put my S/N into the US web site it tells me that I have a T4220 (rather than a T2010) so this did not fill me with confidence

It looks like the BIOS is different between the US and Aust.

Should I run the machine in Safe Mode when I flash the BIOS?

you should do the BIOS upgrade in normal Windows mode. I did it in Win XP, disabled the AV scanner, disabled and disconnected LAN/WLAN and internet and ran the update.
