$2500, no one would take it, even with an extra year of warranty. I've spent $5000 on it over the years ($4200+$400warranty+tax). Outrageously, a used unit was sold for $3250 while no one even tried to bid on my new unit (I guess my start bidding price was set too high, or people were just stupid bidding for an used product for that much money).

Anyways, I am taking it off-shelf and keeping it for another year... gotta to take care of my baby when on one cares, and keep dreaming for that unicorn display to come standalone one day.

Considering the NUCs and Mac Minis released this year, Microsoft really over designed the Surface Studio in looks over function. They could have easily replaced the base with a fully spec Mac Mini or an Intel NUC and use eGPU instead of making the machine look cool/clutter free. Instead, it has zero upgrade-ability and no one really wants to pay over $2000 for it even in the aftermarket. It's terrible value for any potential customers considering the digitizer is so easily broken and you have to replace the whole PC when the monitor dies (and vice versa). For $5000, I could have got a desktop with 32cores AMD, 12GB 2080 RTX, 64GB RAM, 2TB SSD sans the monitor, and run circles and circles around the SS2.

That's pretty amazing, you'd think at that price someone would snap it up quick. I feel your pain, I recently sold a 2015 ThinkPad Yoga i5 with 1TB SSD, a docking station, and a new battery for $300. That's well over 75% of value lost in 3 years. It hurts! :)

And why they call jam "jelly".

Woah. No you didn't! That claim is almost worth starting a war over.

Aaah, that would be so tempting if I lived in the USA...
It's basically a little less than the price I'm selling the Surface Book 2. :D

I have to admit I briefly went on ebay to check the prices. I love these machines, and by now I have enough of my stuff on OneDrive that the 'one machine that does it all' actually becomes less important. That means I could forego the docking station and just get an all-in-one. ..and then I remembered that I'm not a graphic artist :(

My problem(s) instead is that I doubt the warranty would work in Italy too, since Microsoft isn't selling the Studio here anymore.
And the customs, I have no clue how much would be the import fee of such a used device with a transaction between two persons.

<<...And the customs, I have no clue how much would be the import fee of such a used device with a transaction between two persons...>>

...Having done a couple of international sales, I've discovered that it doesn't hurt to ask. Occasionally, you get answers that are surprisingly temperate and reasonable (for both parties...)

    <<...I recently sold a 2015 ThinkPad Yoga i5...for $300. That's well over 75% of value lost in 3 years...>>

...Tell me about it. Thanks to Moore's Law and the general march of progress, a computer's residual value falls faster than used dental floss. My resale experience has been exactly the same. And if your unit isn't in pristine condition, you can't even get those prices...!!

<<...And why they call jam "jelly"...>>

...Hey, we'll call it what we want! No European Socialist lingo for us... Well, not yet, anyway...!

I'm scared to discover it might be affordable. :D
(if it came from a shop though it would roughly be around $600 between VAT and import duties)
