In the most recent emulator iteration, 10X runs a virtual machine for everything Win32. Honestly, it's an absolute mess of an OS in that form. (But of course, that emulator image is obviously pre-release and they announced afterwards that they'll be revamping the entire thing, so who knows.)

Just received a new System Firmware Update with drivers - dated 8/24 (I'm on Insider Dev Channel). It appears to have fixed the WiFi and LTE priority issue but there is probably more, but that will take some investigating as it hasn't shown up in the history yet.

I have to admit I don't have much to complain about from a firmware standpoint anymore. Yeah, I still get occasional GPU crashes, but they never take the whole system down with them anymore (since the previous update).

I do occasionally see the LTE/WiFi priority thing though so that's a nice to have. It's just after so long of feeling that Microsoft had no idea what they were doing with the firmware on this thing despite really liking the device in every other way, those little things don't bother me so much anymore. :D

I gave up on the insider builds awhile back. Too much drama.

That's good news. It looks like Microsoft will remain committed to the platform for at least another generation. I've been pleased with the performance of my current X, so a slightly faster proc isn't a big deal. I was a little disappointed to miss out on the color options, but then it's just platinum. Between black and platinum, I would have chosen the black one anyway. I'm a sucker for shiny red, but maybe gen 3?

Given the quality of their support to date, I don't know why anyone would be interested in this update. Needless to say, I'll be taking a pass...

This concerns me the most when I hear rumors of the Go 3 (or x?) heading to ARM power.
