What often happens is a leaker is forced to tell their willing recipient to keep their leak private because the marketing teams purposely modify aspects of the product renders so they can pinpoint the leak point. For example, a single stray group of pixels, a minor change in angle, a different color scheme, color temperature, etc. can all be applied as a “fingerprint” to an image. Those forensics signal to the company where exactly the leak happened so they can take action against the offending parties.

All that work to prevent us from seeing ahead of time that nothing has changed.

Oops.. I'm beginning to sound more curmudgeonly than our local resident curmudgeon!

Well, even leakers can be fed purposely fake information so Zac Bowden’s public information alone could be enough to expose his leaker/leaker’s insider. Unless Zac tells us precisely what’s real and what’s rotten in the specs of that leak, he is just being a free advertiser and cheerleader for Microsoft.

FWIW: I was with talking with the two industry analysts we work with, who overall have a decent track record generally with predictions though less so specifically with the Surface line.

The one scenario where the more advanced rumors about the Pro 8 might come to be would be in concert with the other rumor that the book line is morphing in to the Surface Laptop Pro.

That would make the minority of our customers that have bought in to the regular Surface laptop models happy.

And the Book share, at least in our customer base, is tiny.
