"The Surface, in many ways, isn’t so much “the tablet that can replace your laptop” as it is a playground for Bathiche and his teammates to experiment with bringing the feeling of pen and paper to the digital era. The screen’s aspect ratio was chosen to mimic a piece of letter-sized paper, and the Surface Pen was always supposed to feel like, well, a pen."

    ?

    It's closer than 16:9, yes, but 3:2 >> 11:8.5.

Of course, we have only ourselves to blame for not using A4.

It gets closer if you burn off 1 inch all around for the margins. Then it is ~1.38 (paper) vs 1.5 (3:2). A4 is still closer at 1.41, and A4 also fits better after accounting for magins (1.55) =P

If they really were trying to mimic a sheet of letter size paper though, 4:3 (1.33) is about as close as it gets to paper (1.29).

    SP3 is 201 mm x 292 mm
    A4 is 210 mm x 297 mm

    That's pretty close.

I'll admit that it's screen is closer to the aspect ratio of a letter sized sheet of paper than any windows tablet currently on the market.

That particular spec would have to be a lot more important before I would call it the best though. For me the only real reason I like the S3 aspect ratio is that I can use it in portrait and maintain ~6" of horizontal space without the device being to bulky and heavy. The fact that it is closer to the aspect ratio of paper doesn't really matter to me. My OneNote pages are 6"xInfinity.

Maybe the SP4will come with a "dstraussing" button?? (recall degaussing?)

One press and it does factory reset, posts for sale on EBay, and auto-orders latest début device from MS/Dell/Apple. Saves a lot of time.
