I don't think there is a "going" bet date yet. However, I expect it to fall into an annual cycle, probably another conference this Fall and release dates late in the year, like last year.

I've recently purchased an SP4, and I'm having some hardware and software issues. The software issues seem common. The hardware issues mostly pertain to the pen--it stops functioning, and I have to remove the cap and adjust the battery to get it working again (a new battery hasn't resolved the issue). There's also some backlight bleed, but I'm given to believe that most people's units suffer from this problem, at least to some degree, and there have been a few BSODs and black screen lock ups. I'm loath to return the entire unit, but the pen issue is unacceptable. Does anyone know if I can get a replacement pen without exchanging the entire unit? Or is it advisable just to exchange the SP4 itself (it's still within the return window), and hope for a better specimen? It seems like this latter strategy hasn't been effective for most people in this discussion thread--they simply seem to trade a set of problems for another.

Thanks in advance for you help. I'm a bit of a newb, and I'd like to go into the Microsoft Store equipped to assess their proposed solutions.

For the pen, since it is Bluetooth you may want to disable Power Management for the Bluetooth Radio Adapter in the Device Manager.

I don't know about online support, but I believe the stores will exchange the pens since they are also covered by the one year warranty.

Except quality issue I had with 3 unit that returned, not had any kind of BSOD or black screen or drivers issue.
I think you should make full replacement with brand new unit.

Too many issue I believe it's hardware failure and not software.
