Why is chrome preferable over desktop IE again?

I forgot to add, how the heck can Edge miss completely BASIC functionality like syncing favorites?!?!? Seriously bouncing between multiple PC's this is such a major pita. So MS allocates all their resources to skype in edge and edge casting, but we still can't even sync favorites? There is some kind of disconnect at Microsoft, but hey these are the geniuses who gave us Windows RT.

I agree, even on a touch tablet I'd rather use desktop IE over chrome if Edge didn't exist.

Mostly because I still get video break-up problems with desktop IE - are they still patching IE for malware threats?

I use chrome sometimes when a video won't play well (or a given website doesn't render correctly), but otherwise I use IE for the CPU efficiency.

As for the security updates, I haven't checked, but I assume so. It isn't Microsoft's way to drop security updates like that. They only recently dropped XP. I would expect security upkeep for IE to continue for many years.

Is there a way to make the search box in Internet Explorer set to google instead of bing?

Strange, my S3 fans never seem to whirl up =)

But, are ads blocked in both cases? This site in particular is the worst of any I regularly visit for ad CPU usage. Without the ads blocked I get sustained 20-50% usage on my S3 when visiting TPCR forums. With them blocked it is ~1-2% for IE.

However, my understanding is that the ad-block ad ons for chrome use a not insignificant amount of battery themselves compared to IE's tracking lists. Also, chrome interferes with S0iX. The latter problem wont show up as CPU usage, but still drain the battery faster.
