I have the exact same setup. I assume you have WiFi connection in your lecture hall. If you don't need that access while listening and writing I'd turn it off and set OneNote to manual sync. Obviously you'll need to remember to turn on WiFi again and implement the sync once class is finished. But I found that this reduces both heat and fan noise significantly.

Witness my iPad Mini 4 as a second monitor for my Surface Pro 4 i7/16gb/1tb. It acts exactly as a second screen - cut/copy/paste; drag and drop; reference document on left, work document on right, or in this case, you Windows fanatics on my left and work to the right. It really does cut down on screen switching to edit a couple of documents or keep up with email.

Duet Display, Mountie, and your iPad lightning cable. My guess is it would work even better with iPad 9.7"

No no, by all means, please continue your streak. ;)

You are fast approaching TCPR meme status (alongside such greats as @Bronsky "the crusher" and "iron-wallet" @surfaceproartist) :D

Sorry, I miss-understood - thought we were talking about firepower, not legendary return status...
    Unfortunately
, @Azzart can't touch me there yet either...

Now now, why didn't I think about something like that?!? I can use the iPad Pro 12.9 alongside the Surface! :D

My problem is that I'm suspecting Amazon is getting sick of me: this would be the fourth return running with the same money since February. -.-

There are reports of them kicking people out of the Amazon club for too many returns.

After prolonged use this evening, the top 1/3rd of the screen is warm to the touch. Noticeable difference in temp from that section of the screen and the bottom 2/3rds. Doesn't bother me personally when inking. Will keep an eye on it, don't hesitate to ping me later.

Another observation after testing it docked for the past few hours, using a Dell U3417 widescreen monitor at my desk: Same configuration would spin the fans of both my SP4 and Yoga 720 with some regularity, depending on the resources used. Haven't heard the fans once with the nSP. Pretty remarkable.
