Hey Roach, when are your overlords ever going to make a portable machine big enough for actual professionals? Quit with this kiddie computer ********.

OK - let me get this straight:

$1299 for fanless Core i5, 8gb ram, 256gb SSD, $100 for new S-Pen (with no clip), and $159 for keyboard - (not so) grand total $1558 out the door...

Galaxy Book 12 $1329 with pen and keyboard - you're stuck with a fan, but get AMOLED, Wacom EMR, USB-C, did I mention WACOM EMR with 4096 and tilt...

Maybe Sammy didn't overprice after all...

PS - I snagged one of those $25 give-away pens from Best Buy a month ago "just in case" - and just in case is looking pretty good right now...

I don't work for Microsoft :), Microsoft is one of my customers though. The Surface Pro screen is 12.3"/3:2 and at that resolution functions like a 13" laptop and it based on their usability studies is the largest size that is comfortable to use while mobile. The Surface Book and Surface Laptop have larger screens 13.3"/3:2 so knock yourself out....

Yeah, I need 18 or so. I'll live with 16 in a pinch.
And here's the craaaaaaazy thing: if you need less than 18" /you can still use an 18 inch machine!/ it's nuts!

I suppose the new lower latency for the pen will only be available on the new Surface Pro, isn't it?

Sounds like you're a candidate for the Surface Studio and a Portable Generator :D

Well since there's a new onboard chip on the SP, the answer is likely, "no backwards compatibility"

The prices for these are utterly insane though, they better rival Wacom's EMR in drawing smoothness and no more staircase jitter.

No doubt. I'm semi seriously considering buying a surface studio, taking apart it's pretty little hinge, taking the case off the base, epoxying everything to a corner of the back of the screen, filling up there rest of the space with battery packs and building a new back case to cover it all.

Alternately, surface pro + USB C dongle + Cintiq pro 16 + duct tape.
