it just so happens there is a store just a couple miles from work, and its about break time...

    Update:
seems office max will not do "rainchecks" and ALL the stores are out.
The girl there said if I brought back the ad (I printed it out) when they had some that they would honor the price. A bit skeptical since I don't have anything in writing, but I'll give it a shot

I wonder if Best Buy will match? Funny, I'm going past there right after lunch.

    What are Spectre attack vectors?

Also, a new SP variant was just released: https://www.neowin.net/news/new-sur...and-128gb-ssd-has-the-same-price-as-4gb-model

Kind of hoping this batch won't have the bleeding issues.

I can't really wait until the end of the year to buy a new computer, will I regret buying a 7th gen processor? I'm hoping that I won't notice with my very normal day to day use case. No video editing or modern games for me at all.

The bleeding issues have supposedly been fixed post lot 1740.

If that's the case I'll be very tempted to get one right now, but of course there's the risk that there will be a new one announced soon.

How do I find out what lot number it is? So I can check in the store. I thought it was the number on the sticker (1796 for all units I've seen here) but I later heard that was the model number instead.

Awesome find! 8 GB RAM is finally becoming the baseline configuration as it should have been. This makes sense in our day and age when common applications like browsers can use the extra memory. Personally, I can make do with 4 GB but modern browsers do much better with at least 5-6 GB RAM with multiple tabs open. Now, for Microsoft to kill off that 4 GB model once and for all.

The Lot number should be on the retail packaging.
