    So:

    @dstrauss - modular Note 8 & GB12 to SG LTE

    @Bronsky - modular Note 5 (or 9) & S3 to SG LTE

    @djas - modular Note 5 & S3 to SG (if work permit)

    I'm seeing a pattern here. Who else?

    You need to manually install the video drivers from Intel replacing those from Microsoft.
    This will give access to Intel control panel to change the power settings of the gpu while on battery.

    It's something that happens in every surface device while used on battery.

    I'll buck the trend. Go big or go home. ;)

    iPhone 6S (for consumption / email and casual note taking) & SP2017/i7

    ...really fun to watch everyone enjoy their new toys (and I don't mean that disparagingly)…

    to... staying with what I have. Don't want to incur another device to sync and don't think I'd get $600 value over current setup.

    I'm NOT wedded to the SG LTE (yet) - mostly because I am so loving the Wacom EMR experience. But for size, weight, and lack of LTE, the GB12 will run circles around the Pentium SG, the GB12 screen is to die for, but the lack of a kickstand is the "kicker" so to speak. The Pros vs Cons worksheet is a bloody mess...

    My gut (and brain) say the GB12 is a no-brainer; gadget lust says "look at that magnesium beauty over there."

    If I had any doubt about the SG, today's firmware update indicating that MS is paying attention to the pen issues on its tablets, gave me a bit more comfort that my decision to get one is correct. I'm just waiting for LTE. I just wish I had a real timeline on its release. Galaxy Book 10s keep popping up on FleaBay at incredible prices. There are new-open box items for $350 or less. Used units go for under $300. If the SG is going to be six months, I would seriously consider a GB10 to fill the gap. I spend that much in my monthly poker game.

    Congratulations on your Note 8. I think it is a smart move. I don't see anything that the nine offers other than a much bigger price tag.

    I agree with @Bronsky. That GB10 sure looks appealing, if nothing else because of the Wacom. Perfect synergy with the Note series. I just can't wait for September!

    Be aware I discovered the Gb10 has some serious palm rejection issues a notetaker like you might find unbearable.
    I'll try and post a video of what I mean later on the Galaxy Book thread.
