    Thanks.

Well @JoeS, looks like WinCentral just had a bad test unit. SSD read/write speeds are impressive.

Yeah, either that or their system was doing something else that was disk intensive during the write test. It seemed so obviously a dubious result that I'm surprised that they went ahead and published those results anyway. Way to confuse their readers.

PSA: Do not perform a clean install of Windows if your device is still on S-mode!

Not sure why this happened but when I clean installed Windows 10 it took out the wifi drivers. And because you are in s-mode you can't manually install them or use an usb ethernet port either (same issue with drivers). I ended up having to tether internet through bluetooth through my phone so that Windows could get drivers.

Good point. I hadn't noticed that post. His benchmark duplicates WinCentral's benchmarks. These write speeds for sequential writing are slower than the eMMC speeds. I wonder if there is some limitation caused by being in S Mode? Clearly, when in W10, the disk is working fine.

I stand with @JoeS about the drive already busy with something else during the test.

FYI, I had switched out of S mode when I ran the test. Subsequent tests show the same write speed for the first test.

I don't know, this @JoeS guy seems to be just guessing! :D Whatever is going on, I hope it's easily fixed.

Earlier, @dstrauss pointed out that the Go does not use Marvell but instead Qualcomm. Now with this teardown courtesy of @JoeS from iFixit, I wonder how well in the real-world this Qualcomm QCA6174A chip runs compared to, say, Intel. I have been told often that Qualcomm is the market leader in wireless technologies and is the one to beat but I have never had the opportunity to use one personally yet. All I know is Intel Wi-Fi chips are generally a good league or two above Marvell and Realtek in reception and throughput and having something comparable in quality and functionality is a nice step up.

Read a lot of the reviews, yesterday and they are all over the place, couldn't stand it and went and bought one (8GB, 128GB) this morning. I love it so far. So much so that i'm going to give the SP4 to the wife. I'll have a surface book 2 for when I need the speed or big screen and the go for mobility and day to day. Anyone that's on the fence, really needs to try one in person to decide. I wasn't that impressed by the reviews, but using it more than changed my mind
