Now that's what I'm talking about. Keep going@Bronsky, I have a feeling something good's going to come out of this. I can see a book deal "An impossible wait: The diary of a tech enthusiast."

WinCentral did a comparison of the SSD model vs. the eMMC model. The read speed is four times lower on the eMMC model. Write speeds are about equal but it seems like they're having some kind of problem with their SSD unit. Initially it showed 500MB/s, but dropped to 130MB/s after the upgrade to full Win10. I'm guessing the low write speed on SSD is something that will be fixed soon.

I think Paul needs to spend a little more time reading and a little less time writing.

The Mashable review was cringe inducing; don't give them to the benefit of the click. Chrome was sluggish and a little janky in touch mode? Well golly, who'd have thunk it?? Split screen is suboptimal on a 10" device? You don't say! Good thing you have task view and a full range of keyboard shortcuts.

I'm kind of baffled that in 2018 any professional tech reviewer could find him or herself stumbling around trying to figure out "who this device is for". See the Surface Pro and all the other convertibles over there? It's for someone who wants a smaller, less expensive one of those. It sits at the intersection of iPad, Chromebook and Windows laptops.

Why do I let these guys make me cranky?

That was actually difficult to watch. But, it'll probably do more for Surface Go sales than anything else posted in this forum. At least she showed the charger.

She was so small that the Go actually looked pretty large.

That is, after all, the very definition of irony.

I went back and checked and it seems that no one else has benched the 128GB SSD. Hopefully, WinCentral's unit was defective as opposed to some firmware issue that affects all of the 128GB Go's. In that test, it wrote slower than the eMMC. That just can't be.

I gave up on Paul Thurrot years ago. I always ended up feeling either angry by his lack of knowledge, his bad prognostications, or like a chump for liking Microsoft products. Best of luck to him, though. I’m glad his job allows him to feed, clothe, and educate his family.

I have to stop reading those tech reviews. Most, if not all of them misses the point of the Go. It just makes me annoy and frustrated with their ignorance. Not to mention the platforms war in most of these reviews' comments sections.

    I gotta cool down. (sigh)

    Edit:
On an unrelated note (ha!) I just gone and exchanged the GTA10SP to this -

    What was I'm thinking?

Could anyone who purchased a 128GB SSD version of the Go post the Crystaldisk results?
