This. The thing is unless it is 3D modeling or video encoding, most programs have a hard time taking advantage of more than 4 threads since too much threading can lead to high latency when cores have to talk with each other. Of course, as of late, AMD Ryzen has spurred on a Core-an war in the processor market so more and more software developers are optimizing now, finding ingenious ways around this latency issue.

    Core-an war? Please elaborate.

Its when Communist/Socialist AMD forces invaded Capitalist Democratic nation of Intel without provocation with help of Chinese Communist Foundaries to wage war of thread-ripping proportions...

    Haha!

Basically this Corean war is a battle in core counts since the frequency wall has been the biggest hurdle keeping us from bigger jumps in performance. On account of AMD’s failure at Bulldozer and Intel’s antitrust violations leading to AMD being on life support, Intel decided to rest on their laurels. They only did minor IPC and frequency bumps and not also increase core counts which was easily doable with the number of process nodes they went through. With AMD’s Ryzen, however, the entrenchment in quad-core processors has finally ended, and eight-core processors have become mainstream. Word has it that next year, AMD will be jumping to a 12-core die for their mainstream flagship given that Zen 2 EPYC will have up to four 12-core dies in their 48-core Goliath.

"Other features may include a 12-inch 16:9 display, 13 MP rear camera and an updated S-Pen, which should be the same as the one featured with the Note 9."

Now THAT is interesting speculation - a siloed S-Pen!

Ah that make sense. My desktop is Ryzen based(1500x) and I really like it. A small part of me wishes I went with the 6 core(12 threads) 1600x, but still a great value when Intel is only giving an dual core i5 or i7 desktop cpu at the same price.

I think the Chromebook Plus V2 is using the Note 7 version of the S-pen, which from the two preview videos I saw looks great and it's siloed too. Sadly 32gb of storage max, and display went from a great display at 3:2 to a good display at 16:10 boooo.

As long as the Samsung Galaxy Book uses the origami keyboard cover, I would consider it a pass.
I was also shocked how cheap and plastic that keyboard felt and looked given the price.

16:10 is crap too (though sadly more and more unavoidable)

Normally I'm down on the 16:9 as well, but if they are ditching the bezels and filling the frame, I'd go for that.

16:9 works better on larger screen sizes. It would be a damn shame if they updated the Book 10.6 with Windows on Arm and 16:9. Not even a proper kickstand would balance that out.

Back to the Surface Go.....been thinking alot about.....potentially picking one up from Best Buy (which is alot closer to me then a Microsoft Store) before I head off to the Airport on Aug 2nd........they already have their site all updated for the GO.....but I know that would be a stupid move...aside from the almost guaranteed crappier pen performance......but it would be stupid to buy a device to day I literally leave.....with little to no time to get it all set up and whatever kinks ironed out, and have to rely on it for a whole month. Now if I could snag it a few days early to put it through its paces....that would be preferable.

Why did they pick August 2nd.....its a Thursday.....who launches Products on a Thursday......however....given past products that Best Buy has sold before the official product release date (The Wacom Ink pen for one)....I do wonder if the Go might actually be obtainable prior to Aug 2nd.

I wish Microsoft would just ditch the N-Trig pen stuff. I don't mean let the patents and ideas go to waste, but to say, work with Wacom and get Wacom EMR and them to work together where they can.

I'm not. Bezels are useful. They provide somewhere to hold the device (for a tablet or phone). They provide space for other components (cameras, microphones, speakers, fingerprint readers). They provide structural integrity. They allow for cheaper (but still high quality) displays to be used.

Bezel-less designs may look futuristic, but they the bezel-less design is good design and they don't make the devices with bezels 'out-dated'. To be frank, I think if you think much differently, then you're being played by companies desperate to sell their products to you.
