Also, Microsoft literally just partnered with Razer for an Xbox-branded version of the Kishi USB-C controller - which, surprise, won't work with the Duo.

It's too big to fit, plus doesn't have a centered USB-C port, plus even if you could somehow fit the device into the controller when it's open and in tablet mode, the USB-C is on the 'wrong' half. You'd theoretically want the screen to extend upwards from the controller, but the port being on the right half would mean it'd theoretically extend downwards.

Again, not a big deal for this device and not what it's supposed to be used for, just another funny example of Microsoft's lack of inter-company synergy.

Certainly a plus for those who do video on such devices. Me, I have never intentionally activated video capture on a phone or tablet device. Yet smartphones have completely replaced traditional still photography equipment for me (the camera that is with you...). There is no way I would swap my iPhone 11 Pro for anything with such an inferior camera system and I’ll likely dump Apple if they’re too slow to improve their telephoto capabilities. That’s how important the camera is to me.

That's just poor planning on MS part. OTOH the MS wireless xbox controller standard and elite models will work with the Duo.

My concern is the 855 is nearly 2 years old & Qualcomm drops support unreasonably quick

It's not Qualcomm per se but Google that is quick to abandon. Qualcomm often licensed out their older chips for things like use in embodied devices running a custom variant of Linux.

I'm fairly sure I've read Qualcomm drops driver support after a while. It's still something to worry about.
