I'm mostly marking students' assignments and it's usually very convenient having the rubrics/answer keys readily available to refer to. Other times, I'm typing up a short text and I need to quickly confirm the correct usage / definition of a term. Even on my Tab A 8.0 I would pick up my phone just to avoid leaving the screen I'm working on, but with the Duo I don't need an extra device.
Compare that to the Fold 3, I'm yet to even use the side bar (or what is it called to pin two apps together. Most times I find it frustrating trying to move windows around on my SGo, let alone a sub 8" device.

Another draw of the Duo for me, though not work related, is reading novels in kindle and Google books. I had collected a decent number of legal thrillers in my library but never got around to reading any of them 'cos it never felt the same as good old paperbacks. So, it's been quite a delight going back to this old hobby thanks to the Duo.

I love the wide aspect of the two screens of the Duo and the balance too.

I think you're spot on. Filtering out OS preferences and CPU demand of apps, this is one way to think about it:

    got the duo yesterday,

was just going to set it up, and ended up playing it with for about 2 hours

so i'm definitely going to have fun with this:

    quick take:

Some comparisons with Surface Pro 1/2 tablet, its about 75-80% size, when fully opened.

day 1 of surface duo, so far so good,
+ Great E-book reader, (flip pages animation)
    + Great comic book reader

    Great for tablet like surfing

NOT so good at videos, since there is a line in the middle

Good for laptop mode, 1 screen down, 1 up

Great for work replacing notebook, with one note and N-trig Pen

Also using Microsoft Wedge Bluetooth keyboard

Have no idea about Phone functions - not activated

Very slick, very responsive, and will try out some gaming and fun features over weekend.

anyone have an empty surface duo1 (or 2) box, they don't want.

i'll pay for it, and shipping. mine was used, so didn't have one.

still can't figure out how to add apps to the main screen, or to set the screen to lock the rotation.
    i don't think it's possible.

also, i tried to install gboard, to do writing recognition, but can't get it to work either.

that worked for me, but still have trouble with entering block letters, and words.
    (cursive handwriting works)

    i don't know if that's possible.

My SDuo OG was damaged and replaced under the warranty. So, here I have a new, sealed in box 256GB SDuo OG, and my work flows are fully moved over to iPhone and iPad Mini 6.
    • M$ is offering $475 if I spend $1,599 on Duo Deux, a device about which I am ambivalent at best (BTW - M$ offers more $$$ for an iPhone Pro Max that is the same age and cost less to buy new than the SDuo OG new ).
    • Best Buy offers $450 IF trading it in on Verizon with activation on an unlimited line (mine isn't, don't ask. It's a long story dealing with corporate discounts )
    • Apple won't take the SDuo OG for trade-in value, just "recycling" (o_O)
The trade in value will definitely diminish rapidly in December. What to do, what to do?
    1. I could trade it in to M$ and give the Duo Deux 60 days to see if I can overcome the hump [IMG]
    2. I could wait to see IF M$ bothers to make Android 11 or 12 or 12L available before the battery corrodes away
    3. I could open it, set it up, and use it as a WiFi only device with no real use case (I'm not even enough of a vintage game enthusiast to use it as an overpriced replacement for a GameBoy, and having a perfectly good Kindle and Kindle App on the iPad Mini 6 I don't "need" a folding Kindle - even though that option appeals for some reason)
    4. I could do 3 and spring for a Mint or US Mobile SIM for the privilege of carrying a third cellular radio
    5. Put it in the drawer as the latest in the Museum of M$ Failures to join the Lumia Icon, Lumia 950 XL (which boots Win 10), and the HP Elite X3 (still an M$ failure because Windows 10 Mobile)
    Decisions, decisions ... .
