    Update on my unlock quest.

Called MD and everything went exactly as you said, but the very nice customer rep. said they'd need the SN, IMEI, and AT&T case #. He even tried to quickly create a case # for me.

However, as luck would have it, my device from BuyDig was an 'Open Box' item, and it turned out, whoever had returned it, did not care to unregister it from the AT&T network. So, they won't be able to raise a case # and the nice MS rep won't be able to get me an unlock code

He did suggest opening a service request and sending it back to MS, so they can send me a clean device (my current one has warranty till July, next year). Again, he did just that for me, and that's the story.

So, in the end, I'm going to send this back to MS in the US and wait for a replacement device. Still a lesser evil .
I'm beginning to wonder if I was even meant to have the Duo at all. Between my first purchase from a Swappa seller that went back and this one that's going back, it's been more than 2 months.
    Hope it all ends well.

@nnthemperor - good luck with the exchange! Man, you've really had a streak of bad luck with the Duo. :(

Thanks, senior comrade. Looking forward to a happy ending. Who knows, I might get sent a Duo Deux by mistake

I really love the device though.

Or more like we're trading places; you went in once for the GZF3 and got a huge blessing from the tech gods while they turned their backs on me and my little Duo.

i was thinking more about my wandering in the tech desert these past three years...and my succession of both failed trials and defective units...

FWIW - Switching from an Android phone to an iPhone (and vice versa) really screws with Verizon's voicemail systems. o_O
