    That basically matches up with certain "off the record" stories we have heard e.g the Neo needed a substantially different windows than what existed, but when work started, "the size of the mountain to climb was far higher than anticipated"

    I think the price of Neo will be the sacrifice backward compatibility of 32bit apps &/or legacy dlls.

    , but considering it would ship with an Intel (Lakefield iirc) chip, I wonder if it (Neo + W10X) would be better compatibility wise with translation/containerizing compared to WoA.

    That was more or less the genesis of the discussion on the dev boards before it was removed. In other words a containerized Windows X should be able to run with very good performance and battery life on 865x family processor. I say x because to date the chips that have ended up in WOA devices have had some Windows specific tweaks compared to the standard 8xx Qualcomm chips.
