Agreed, but that cannibalizes the OPP SP4. The Surface (non pro) have always been Halo Devices for the Tablet SoC segment targeted as companion devices or for the education market (non-STEM).

Another real NUGGET from that Wired interview:

"But as soon as we start talking about it, he gets distracted by a CNC machine that’s milling a Surface Book’s bottom bucket. Panay just watches it for a moment, carving over and over to form the antenna gap. A few machines away, another machine works on a prototype of a new phone."

There WILL be a Surface Phone!

Different market - those are value chips mainly for sub-$200 laptop segment.

Yea, that's why I think they need to create a Surface "Air" (since the SB proves they are willing to create additional Surface product lines). Basically, a Core M based Surface from the ground up. It should be priced in the same range as the SP but with a focus on being and light, quite and cool as possible rather than maximizing performance. Preferably, with a screen size closer to the S3 than the SP4.

Sure it will cannibalize some SP sales, but so do the SB and S3. At the same time it will bring in additional users who weren't Surface customers at all. I think an Intel Core powered device in a media tablet size would be appealing to people who are currently staying away from Surface tablets. Additionally, I wouldn't be surprised if the Surface sales volumes have grown to the point that cannibalizing their own sales is no longer as big a deal as it once was.

I just want it to run full windows. We've reached that point. If anyone can pull it off its MS. I'm ready for the full PC version of the Asus Padfone.

It is a bad day to need to fly... Would be a lot more fun to live vicariously through all of your unboxing experiences. Enjoy guys!
