The surface book... Does it have a U series chip? What iGPU us the book going to run when you use it as a tablet? The nVidia card, I hope is at least a 940m (this is what Lenovo is packing into their Thinkpads now).

    Any word on these?

Didn't I hear Panos say something about the Surface book being dual CPU?... then he went on to mention it was twice as fast as a MacBook Pro?

They're going to sell a bunch of these. 3.34 lbs is actually heavier than my old Thinkpad X301:D.

But they are touting it as twice as powerful as a mac book pro and that isn't close to 1000.

Way more versatile with a much larger screen than my T904 and it is a hair lighter.

I think it is the proper one
The i7 one Panos said has 2 more cores than mac book pro 13 (probably the base model, don't know much about apple line up), which makes it quad core.
I think it is gonna be throttle like hell in clipboard mode.

Dual CPU? Nah more cores = twice as fast, simpe math.

I just realized that with the discrete NVidia GPU, my code with embedded CUDA support should run faster on the Surface Book! And with a quad-core CPU and 16BG, to boot! Still, I'm going to wait a few months before ordering but baring any royal screw-ups by MS, this Surface Book is in the bag.

I think the only other vendor (aside from VAIO) that MIGHT put out a Surface Book competitor is Fujitsu.

I still want 32GB memory, and if that's possible, then I can probably discard my Thingkpad W540 + LT1423P

I am going to think long and hard about 16gb or 8gb. This machine is going to last me a few years, I cannot see MSFT out doing the Book for a long time. I just wanna know if it can run the occasional game once in a blue moon with out sounding like a jet taking off from the run way...

The bigger real estate is going to be amazing for productivity. I always felt the 12" screen felt cramped for W10 snapping.
