Since launch I've popped it into my backpack each workday and have yet to have it be on.. so.. maybe? your mileage may vary.

If something presses the power button then, yes, it will switch on :)

But that exposes another problem with the Surface Pro and Surface Book design - edge power buttons to easy to depress. They should steal from the Acer Switch 7 and go to a power button/fingerprint reader under the glass and kill two birds with one stone.

it doesn't even have to be fingerprint reader + power (MS might want to cut cost by not including FR).... moving the power button to the front bezel is enough.

My lowly samsung ATIV 700, in low light conditions, if the power button is pressed, prompts you to press the volume button to confirm power on

I finally got to see these in the store (dangerous..), pretty sweet! I was certain that I would want the smaller model, but darn it that giant 15" screen is nice.

After seeing these 'in the flesh' I went as far as going online and checking out the SB2+AR bundle that MS offers right now, and was only saved by the fact that they are unwilling to give the EDU discount on the bundle price. This means that for edu customers there's no rush to jump on the bundle deal. So for now I'm resisting, maybe I'll even make it all the way to the next Lenovo product announcement round.

I saw a video on the new SB where a guy was inserting an SD card.
it looked as if the card, once inserted stuck out about a quarter inch. Is this the case?
if so, then that would be pretty useless for me, if I bought one of these things I was going to just pop in a 512mg SD card and double my storage for cheap, but if the thing sticks out it could get broken off. Not good!

That's the kind of device I'm trying to hold out for, although I predict that current high-end convertible pricing will keep me on my TPY12 until it (or I?!) finally dies.. :)
