Yes, the trick is to make the SB2 go away with it....

So far, it is running fine with the updated driver you recommended. Thanks

It's apparently enough of an issue for Woody to compare it to Flickergate. At least in his mind. https://www.computerworld.com/artic...-gpu-not-detected-microsoft-doesn-t-care.html

At least my experience there is a fix - but it scares people to do it, from what I can tell it is caused by a combination of the GPU not coming back from S0iX and that by default Windows 10 only boots to clear the User State and Hibernates the System State. What has fixed for most people is:

Hold the Power Button down while logged into the machine past the Slide Down to Shutdown and it will boot into a Diagnostic CMD Windows (let go of the Power Button at this point) and it should look like this:

Once I did this, I haven't lost the dGPU again.

    A little rant:
It's 2018, why in all hells can't I control the brightness of an external display in Windows 10 already? Why?!?
You would think people may need to have a way to easily adjust it since there's different lighting conditions at 2:00 pm and 10:00 pm.
    But no, no way.

<<...It's 2018, why in all hells can't I control the brightness of an external display in Windows 10 already?..>>

Because that doesn't become a Windows feature until 2027...?

Do I do this next time the dGPU disappears, or now as a preventative?

My rule: If it isn't currently broken, don't try to fix it...!
