Sorry to always be a downer, but I don't think we'll ever even see a 10", much less a sub-10", unless they ever release the Surface Phone...

Add LTE to this and I'm in. Actually, I'd be in without LTE.

I don't think the ipad mini sales are being ignored by MS. Intel's comments last month sounded more like they're going to rally rather than retreat from the mobile market. At least that's my wishful thinking.

The rumored iPad mini Pro for next Spring may give us some hope.

You and I have had similar comments about iOS, no file manager, and that keeps me away. In all honesty, if the pencil worked with the mini 4, Id probably have bought it. I like OneNote and stick with the HP Envy as the only small tablet that has a pen. I thought about the Note and was planning to try the Note 7, but that didn't work out. Prior versions of the Note, the stylus was not useful to me from the in store demo.

If Apple is expanding in this segment, I doubt MS is going to shy away. Maybe some hardware partner devices. It seems the big phone announcement is going to be the Alcatel Idol. Too little too late for me, I'm going with a Pixel.

Unless there is a Surface Mini in the works, that iPad Mini may make some serious inroads into the note taking market. The lack of a file system would not be significant in this instance (for me at least) because it would be just a note taker - and OneNote works "good enough" in iOS.

Surface 3 is perfect for me in that regards.
