I used my staples 40% to buy a surface pro 3 pen for my surface 3. Between the rewards I get from that and the 80$ in ink rewards I have should bring the cost of the keyboard down to $20-30 bucks or so.

Unless there is some decent deal from MS or Best Buy for me to return my online pre-order.

Got the shipping confirmation for the s3 today. WOOOOOOOO!!!

Any recommendations on cases and screen protectors? Haven't seen any around yet and was wondering if the forum could help out with tips. The official MS store screen protector any good?

So now that many people are trading machines, is there a good and easy way to basically clone your setup on one machine and port it over to another?

    Ozymandias,

I imagine you are looking for something more "svelte" but just in case you are looking for something more rugged, FWIW, I purchased a few of these after seeing them in another context (i.e. pre-production.)

    http://www.amazon.com/URBAN-ARMOR-G...Microsoft+Surface+3+Composite+Case,+Red/Black

My retail units should be hitting my desk on Tuesday and I should be able to provide feedback to interested parties at that time (I refrain from making recommendations based on engineering samples - I feel that I need to see and use real world, shipping retail units which I purchase just like everyone else.) That said, I was impressed with the samples and have enjoyed the SP3 versions. These cases have "detents" for the arm to allow multiple fixed angles. In the case of the SP3, it was considered by many to be inferior to what the SP3 already has ("infinite" angles between min & max) but since the S3 has "only" 3 angles anyway, it should not be such a major "ding." My initial impressions were that with the S3 versions, the additional weight was not all that big of a deal. Of course, it is higher "percentage wise" but with the lighter weight of the S3 (vs. SP3), I found it to be more than acceptable, given the extra protection added (important for my outdoor type user base.) YMMV, but IF you are looking for a tough outdoor-oriented case, you should at least consider the UAG offerings IMHO.

As for screen protectors, I am only experienced with testing & using those which are designed for outdoor use (i.e. anti-glare/anti-reflective.) If that type suits your needs, I am happy to share the results of my tests later this month. Otherwise, the rest of the knowledgeable members here can likely address this question better...

    Hope this helps!

Do you have Win 8.x now? Do you sign in with an MS account? If the answer is yes, then sign in to your new machine with the same account and your settings, background images, and 'apps' come over. You will need to click on the 'apps' to have them download again but your menu and settings will be the same. The rest of your stuff; music, documents, etc.; need to be manually copied over.

I use so many different machines all my 'stuff' is on my mSDXC card so I just pop that from machine to machine. Microsoft would like you to keep everything in OneDrive but I still do not trust the cloud enough to do that. If you do use OneDrive for all your stuff it is even easier.

Hey Randall, thanks for the recommendation. And yes, I'm inclined towards something more "svelte", but would love to hear your feedback on the case and the protectors (I'm primarily looking for anti-glare/reflective ones myself). Thanks!

The wacom CC 2 case is very nice, wish they made one for surface. This looks nice as well. Don't know if the dimensions are correct. Sony probably has a nice one. https://store.wacom.com/us/en/product/ACK400022/

Go to http://www.photodon.com for their sample kit of protectors, you get like 5 for $30 at the 10" sizes so you can pick the strength and types in one go instead of trying to deside on the correct one. Or email them questions, they're super helpful and fast to reply.

Samsung ativ's slim pouch. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Slim-Pouch-13-Inch-ATIV/dp/B00BCPJ55I/ can be found elsewhere online. Not really padded but would easily fit it and pen and some papers or a thin book.

    And Sony's Goodies

Sony tablet S is a hare too small to get their $8 case so no link.

Super nice felt type and not leather, also checkout that brands store lots to pick. Theres a second pouch for a large mouse model as well.

Mostly just do a search for macbook air 11 carry pouch since thats the size factor to find. The power pack for the s3 should be pretty small now with the mobile charge type or a different model.

Wow! Thanks for the list. Will have to go through this in a little detail to see if anything looks good. Meanwhile, I saw this on amazon, anyone have any thoughts on the brand/company:
