    ...It was anticipated that the patches for Spectre / Meltdown would have a significant impact on performance, so nothing new there...

    I was just replying to the question earlier about Surface 3 & Inspectre...
    If you use the Surface 3 accordingly it is still a capable device and again not sure switching to go is an upgrade for everything

    Loved my Surface 3 but the Atom was getting long in the tooth and there was a lot of speculation about the impact the Spectre work around would have on the 3's atom power.

    Won't deny that the Surface is not snappy more likely because of the slow eemc than atom cpu i believe but i read the impact of meltdown & Spectre flaw patch (up to 40% cpu performance loss) occurs only for some use case not necessarily noticeable for the "average" user.

    Anyway, the Go is probably better allround if 10.1" size is enough

    Love the size of the Go and power is a bit of a step up.

    I would say that with the meltdown and spectre disabled, the surface 3 is noticeable faster.
