Actually, it's up for preorder on MS Japan site too. I got the notification on Line. It's ¥69,000 for the base version and ¥89,000 for the higher end one.

Sweet, I didn't check there. So it is a world wide release. Wonder if they will be available locally as well?

I guess it will be. Will be great to have a hands-on at any of the local hardware stores.

Regarding Windows Hello support, a close inspection of this vidcap from Microsoft's own video suggests that there is an IR camera...

Yes it does, it's simply on the tech specs page:

:newpalm: Still hoping that they tell us when LTE versions will be released before the wifi versions become available on August second.

It's been a nice 3+ years, but my S3 barely charges anymore. Last 2 months charging had to be one while in sleep, but 2 days that's not working either. Different chargers and cables aren't helping as I think it's a port issue(never had good luck with the S3 microusb port tbh). I see BB has deals on the Core M SP with black keyboard & may just go that route. The Pixelbook with 256gb ssd, i5(7th) & 8gb of ram is also going for the same price(unlisted sale & in store order only while supply lasts). I'm told it can dual boot windows and chrome os and battery life is is 7.5 hours+.

Update: I got a certified excellent open box(meaning not used or something) nSP Core M w/ standard black keyboard for a little more than what a 128gb Surface Go would have cost me. Price was lower than what was being advertised on their site, I think it's like back to school special or something. Sure it's 4gb of ram, but I do get a better cpu. Will be trading in my S3 tomorrow at the MS store for Complete care and a case.

Side note it turns out the Pixelbook w/ i5 cpu + 256gb has been EOL and was a limited stock item, but it was really tempting just for the extra storage and Wacom AES.

What trade-in value did they say it was worth? (lol, maybe you can trade in your new SP later for the SGo, if the reviews prove good ;))

I asked over the phone, but they couldn't tell me. So I will try in store tomorrow. A small part of me is tempted to do it for the smaller size, but as I've mentioned the SGo keyboard maybe a bit too small, and the Surface Pro is a known quantity with a better cpu(& Sho's post about the Go's cpu had me question if it's really better than the Atom X7). Plus, I at this point in time I am still mostly if not all usb-a.
