Well the coming 3 months is very critical until end of April.
Probably within this period MS will announce Surface 4.

Unless Intel further delays new Atom architecture CPU.

As for my S3 unit I made benchmark test with crystal disk Mark and getting worst performance in write section compared to my first unit back in May last year.
I'm only getting 48mb/s while my last year unit I was getting 70-75 mb/s.

    Significant difference.

That's why probably I won't keep it even everything going perfect with the battery situation.

Bit locker off? Those are the write speeds I get with Bitlocker on. My seq. reads are faster at 142.5 with Bit locker as well. I have a Samsung eMMC. It's ID'd as MCGADC. With that and the battery issue, I would seriously think about a return and a swap. Shame you can't walk into the MS Store and benchmark the unit you are buying. I might try that next time at my local MS Store. I'll dl CrystalMark and bench it right there.

Yes, as always do with every Windows device, but unfortunately I'm getting worst results compared to first unit last year.

In my country there is no local ms store.
Only via on line ms store I can get it or via Amazon.

Edit: New firmware update for S3 for both Windows 8.1 and 10

The main difference is actually in boot menu that after Surface logo you see plus Windows logo.
    And double time to boot.
    Have you noticed that?

It does take longer to boot. Maybe that'll calm down over time. It seems to me that a bunch more stuff is being loaded on boot than before. The only real issues I've had with my S3 have been the wireless not connecting on rare occasions and the video card resetting under stress. We'll see if any of this is corrected.

Try to turn on drive encryption. In my case the eMMC performed better then.

I little better but still the write number is not good enough.
Those result after firmware and latest windows update and a clean install of windows 10.

Sadly, that write speed of yours is completely normal. There have been various Samsung 128 GB eMMC modules sourced over the life of the Surface 3. My particular unit of the 128 GB Surface 3 has a MCGAGC eMMC module. It gets a sequential read speed of 143.2 MB/s and a sequential write speed of 35.23 MB/s. So there is a gamut of read and write performance variance between the same model of Surface 3. Though, to be honest, the Surface 3 has always had write speeds which have dragged behind its competitors' eMMC storage solutions. Chalk it up to Microsoft for further compromising the storage performance of the Atom's already slow eMMC storage interface.

    See this comparison below.
