I think that 6-8 hours of battery life is more realistic.

General question - of which, I'm sure there are differing opinions: I have complimentary subscriptions to both McAfee and Trend Micro virus protection for my S3. If this was for my desktop or some other beast of a machine, I wouldn't be concerned as I am with the S3.

Your opinions then: do you think McAfee or Trend Micro the better choice for my S3? Thanking you all in advance.

I'm pretty partial to ESET NOD32, been using it for years. Super lightweight and have never had any issues. However, once my subscription ends next year I'm likely just going to stick to Defender+Malwarebytes combo. I think that will be enough.

I've been using the built in defender for several years.

But the best defense is a good dose of caution and common sense

    Happy new year every1

Definitely not McAfee. Trend is a good av but might be heavy for the S3. I'd install a trial, see how it works. I don't think CPU usage will be the biggest issue, real-time scanning will be. It might really drag down the emmc storage.

Defender for me. Have not had a problem since upgrading to W10. I would be concerned about CPU usage for the 3d party programs. I keep my display at 35% with BT off and Wifi on only when needed and am getting a solid 8 hrs.

I'm with Bronsky - been using Defender (and predecessors) since starting in Windows 8+ land and no problems. I realize it tends to "fail" PCMag and other tests, but I think "safe surfing/mailing" is more of a deterrent than the virus software anyway.
