<<...I think that is correct that LTE is working towards being the generic replacement for GSM and CDMA...>>

...That is my understanding, as well...

I know with Verizon they recently implemented "Advanced Calling", where Verizon to Verizon calls where both parties have the feature enabled go over LTE.

They said they plan to add Wifi calling too. That would be a godsend. I almost always have a good WiFi signal, but my cell signal is rarely (time averaged) above two bars. I miss/drop a lot of calls.

Wife's S3 arrived Tuesday. My Asus DVD player works perfectly using VLC as the player software. No additional power required.

As a curiosity, I have an assembly language program that I have used for several years to measure raw CPU power. It starts with two integers and divides one by the other thousands of times until it gets PI to seven decimal places. It reports the time to do the calculation 1,000 times. The Surface 3 with the Atom Z8700 CPU takes 8,127 milliseconds. My Surface Pro 3 with an I5-4300U CPU takes 14,296 ms and my HP Spectre x360 with an i5-5200U CPU takes 13,270 ms.

I find the results to be startling, an Atom CPU out performs two i5 CPUs.

    Regards, Jim

Be careful with Today's cumulative update. I was working with split windows on the 21.5" monitor (WP and Adobe running together), drawboard, and Outlook. Browser was IE. Had Lexis Advance and a few other tabs open. My unit shut down because it had overheated. When it restarted, it started installing the update that had been downloading in the background. I was unaware that it was downloading.

A quick look at HW monitor indicated that the unit was at 100% utilization rate (I have never seen it over 65% before) and temps of 82C. The highest I had ever seen before was 70C.

Here was the first Monitor run as soon as I turned it on.

And a few seconds later when the cores started to cool down.

You think Microsoft did this on purpose to convince me that I need an SP4?

The charger itself is 3A(sans cable), and if one maybe can just get that by itself we could have a faster way of charging the S3.

    :D:D:D:D:p You think?

I think your chipset has to be specifically designed for fast charging for these to work.
