Something must have changed with a recent firmware update or something. My S3 now charges using a 5V 2A micro-USB charger without saying "plugged in, not charging." And it charges just as fast as with my original S3 adapter. I left my S3 adapter at work, so I had to use this 5V 2A charger. I was expecting a trickle charge, but it is charging as normal. This is great for me.

I connected an Asus DVD player to the USB port on my Surface Pro 3 and it worked perfectly. It appears that it won't power two devices at the same time. No big for me.

You can just download the recovery images from MS directly.

It probably depends on the specific device you connect, but if your DVD player works, that's all that matters (unless you buy a new one with higher peak power draw).

    Grateful for your reply ..
My S3 Serial throws W10 Recovery Images.
    I need W8.1 Recovery Images...Surface3_BMR_42_4.50.0.zip or other.
    W10 does not convince me!
    Thanks.

You technically do not have a Windows 8.1 license and would need to purchase one to do a clean install, you can download the driver pack to install the correct drivers.

First sign of wear on my S3. The Magnesium case has held up great with virtually no scratches. This is obviously related to the method of putting the S3 into the dock.

You have to purchase a license from Microsoft. You can buy it from their online store.
