    Hey guys,

It seems as if certain tones or pitches of sounds make a crackling noise with my x200t. I have compared this with my other laptop (HP tx2500) and this crackling does not happen with the same or even different headphones.

I am wondering if anyone else has this problem to see if this is a sound card issue or driver issue (this also happened with both the previous and updated drivers of the conexant sound card).

Just so you guys know what I am hearing: In the beginning of this song ( http://www.last.fm/music/Daft+Punk/_/Around+the+World+(radio+edit)?autostart/ ) the beginning portion makes this crackling sound, and then only really happens again when a similar sound/tone is played again. This also happens with other songs and sounds as well.

Please let me know if you have the same problem or if you can help.

    Thanks in advance

I get a very small amount of feedback on my Etymotic ER-6i earbuds on my x200T. However, this is because my headphones are very high quality and often pick up machine interference. To be fair, I have experienced far worse feedback on other notebooks (including a 15.4" MBP).

I doubt it's a driver issue, probably just poor shielding (and therefore very hard to fix).

I agree with jonlumkin. My tablets speaker is barely even usable for anything other then windows sounds.

We're not talking about the internal speakers (in fact, the x200T's are pretty decent for an ultraportable). Instead the concern is noise/feedback when USING HEADPHONES.

I just played this back. I have a fair amount of interference in the baseline (cracks whenever it thumps).

I also have the same song on my computer (MP3), and it didn't sound as bad here, but there is still some interference on the baseline.

It's possible (and fairly likely) that the sound processor in the x200T isn't that great at handling a baseline (it is a Business rather than Entertainment notebook after all).

    Thanks for your replies.

This crackling just seems too much and I can't seem to even listen to things without it bothering me. I wouldn't expect this from a +$2,000 tablet. My HP tx2500 sounds amazing with no crackling and that is a sub $1,000 notebook.

I guess I will contact Lenovo and see if they can fix this. Can they increase shielding of the headphone output or replace a component to fix this crackling?

Also, is anyone else NOT having any crackling with their headphones?

They would most likely have to replace the entire system board just to change the soundcard. This is the downside of integrated electronics.

Bumping the thread to see if:

Anyone else with a x200 tablet that does NOT have any sound crackling with their headphone jack?

I tried listening to your track with the same headphones (Sony MDR-F1) through my X200T and my desktop. No crackling in either. However, that high volume bass line is a difficult source to render without distortion.
