Just about every two days, when i restart my TM2, it will take an obnoxiously long time to boot. The finger print reader will not work and when I finally log it, I have at Windows 98 looking retro theme and i get an error about how windows cannot connect to the enent service. Ive been doing some reading and i do a netsh reset winsock and it fixes it....fow a few days.

    Any ideas?

Reinstall Windows using the "Minimized Recovery". Search the forum to find info about it.

Hmm... that's strange, because I had exactly the same issue as you. But with mine it happened like 1 time out of 20 normal bootings. I did a System Recovery and the problem dissapeared.
It's realy easy, just open Recovery Manager, select System Recovery and follow the steps.

I have this issue since many months, but not too often, so I kept It. But your proposal to recovery system, is interesting. Does this need to install again everything after?

Do you know what is causing this?

No, I don't. Sorry. :( But it looks ninja enough to justify a re-install.

I also have this problem! And mine does 1 out of 3 times; sometimes every other time. It does the exactly same thing: fingerprint reader not detectable, "Unable to connect to service...blah blah" baloon pop-up on the right corner, and the aero theme goes away, with the taskbar becoming non-transparent white, which does make it look retro.

I would like to know a fix for this as well without a re-install if possible.

It's possible that some startup apllications are causing the issue.

Try using a startup manager and disable all non-essential applications. I use Tuneup Utilities which is paid, but there's a free trial and there are some free managers around the web. Use Google ;)
