Hello, I have somewhat of a silly question to ask. I have several windows gadgets on my W7 desktop. One of the gadgets illustrates RAM and CPU usage via a horizontal bar which has the amount used (in percent) at the top. A picture is posted below to give you a better perspective on what I mean. http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/5693/statusa.png Now i know my m7 dual core has two processors, however, when im doing tasks which really take up my cpu's power, the gadget states 100%, but the bar is only half filled. Does this mean that my second processor is not activated? I know, its a silly question. thanks
Throw away that not working gadget and open the task manager. There you see two cores, or? This means that both cores are active. Then stress with a single threaded program the CPU. One core should go to max. however the whole CPU load bar should only show 50%. Then stress the CPU with a multi threaded program or two single threaded programs, you'll notice both cores get taxed, and the CPU load will rise to 100%. 50% just means that only one core gets stressed, it's because of most programs only stress one core.
