    Man!

There are some huge screen set-ups popping up today.

I remember back when I splurged for a 17" monitor, and felt like I was rocking the scene! It was huge, bigger than our microwave, and it weighed a ton. And because it was a CRT, it had amazing colour.

These days, I like small; I have a little 10" USB monitor on a swinging arm which I can bring up close so it seems huge, but doesn't make my studio feel like my life is dominated by too much technology bearing down on me.

I only really want big when it comes to drawing surfaces.

But if I worked with lots of documents, I can definitely see the advantage of the Star Trek approach!

I'm kind of the opposite, I only want small when it comes to writing Surfaces =P Also, being immersed in tech isn't something I try to avoid. Star Trek is my favorite TV franchise, so it is definitely an effect I enjoy... The newness hasn't worn off yet, but it is brining several smiles to my face per day currently =)

Oh yea, and it does have some practical use in my work too =)

Just finished tidying up the SurfaceProArtist labs and figured I should take a quick snapshot for posterity. Who knows when it will happen again?

All the bags on the lower left are filled with other Windows devices, like the original two Surface Pros.

How many of the screens I have on display can you name?

    Okay. That's pretty awesome!

One thing I like about Linux is that you can swap out your OS gui for custom designs. There was this Star Trek interface designed to look like the fancy-cool control screens we saw on every Starfleet monitor.

If it wasn't for all the Windows software I need to run, (and the fact that GIMP sucks to draw in), I'd be running that right now...

I'm stuck. Are you running two Huion monitors there? The one on the Left for sure, but the other one... What's that tiny logo on it?

I'm sort of surprised to only see a 13" Cintiq. But I guess if you'd started off with a big one, SurfaceProArtist would probably not exist today. How boring the world would be!

The pen display on the right is a short-lived Monoprice with touch.

Ok, you win hands down. :D

But all those cables with the moquette make me shiver if I think of an accidental short cirquit...

You should have seen the rat's nest I had before I took this picture. Cable management is not my strong suit.

    I was going to say...

I've finally got around to better cable management in the last couple years. I use cheap "plastic
Horizontal Finger Duct Rack Cable Management Panel" (google for a location near you) I screw it or foam tape to the bottom of my desk near the back. Leave the cap off and its pretty easy to temporarily take things out. Its messy underneath but you can't see it. Basically it just nags the wires from underneath in a non tangle fahion. Might be harder on those glass tables.

Its made a big difference in tidiness and function
