    Hello,

I want to set the sepcial header and footer color in Word document which are different with the background color of main document. For example, header color is green and footer color is blue, while the main document is just white.

    Is that possible? Thanks.

Are you talking background color or text color?

    Hi,

Thank you for you reply. I'm talking about the background color in header and footer, not the text color.

You draw a square, assign a color and send it to the background.

Do it on a template and you'll have it on all pages

To clarify: @Lond should make sure to use "move behind text". If you use "Move object to back" it would still be in front of the text.

Inserting a shape as previously mentioned is an option. Another one is to just color the background using the normal functions:
    - Put the cursor in the header.
    - Open the "Borders and Shading" window (on the "Page Layout" tab, click the "Page Borders" button).
    - Change the color on all three of the tabs (Borders, Page Border, Shading).
    - Click OK. Now the text area of the header should be colored.
    - While in the header, adjust the vertical and horizontal tab/spacing delimiters so that the color occupies the whole space of the header. Then adjust the specific tabs to position the text in the header.

I assumed that wasn't working, hence the need for a workaround.

    Hi, lond ,

As suggsetion above, you can insert a shape in header and footer, and then change the color of that shape. It will looks like the header and footer have been changed the background.

You can also use table or textbox , even a picture to do that.

I just find a link which is closed to what you need on google, here it is:

    Hope it helps.
