Ok so i installed windows 8 on the tablet today, it works just fine but there are two drivers missing.

One is an SM bus controller and another is an known device.
Anyone knows where i can get the drivers for the tablet (even the windows 7 ones). i could not find any drivers on the Samsung website.

SMbus controller is probably included in the Intel motherboard drivers.

So screen rotation and Bluetooth work out of the box with a clean Windows 8 install? Thanks!

Screen rotation is disabled in this version of windows 8. I have not tested BT yet.

The unknown device is the accelerometer and the missing SM bus device is from the chipset drivers.

Is the no screen rotation a nuisance when using the tablet?

I am putting Windows 8 on a bootable USB as I type this and then I will put it on the Series 7 tablet I picked up from the Houston Microsoft Store today. I hope the Windows 8 is more friendly than the Windows 7.

How did you install it on the tablet.. It doesn't seem to want to finish setup after resetting from Windows 7. I am going to try it once more by booting it with the USB drive, but I did not have any luck with it earlier.

I booted off the a CD ROM to install. i made sure i take an image of my windows 7 installation before and was able to roll back using the windows 7 recovery CD and the image.

I had some problems with windows 8 where long press = right click would not work most of the time (using my fingers, with the pen it works every time).
I am not sure thy this is happening with touch only, i didn't have any issues with touch on the EP121...

I think it's a 'feature' of Win 8 (at least in the DP). It seems to happen on my TM2 too.

When did you get your Slate? I called the store in the afternoon - they didn't have any yet.

I had a notice several days ago that my dock would be ready for pickup today - but so far, nothing about the slate...

I never had this problem on my tm2, EP121 or HP Slate but in Windows 7 I generally use the two finger tap as I find that quicker though that's not available in the Windows 8 Developer Preview.

How did you get it to boot off a CD-Rom/DVD? The manual says you need to attach a keyboard and use f5/f6 to change the boot order, but that doesn't work with either the Msft bluetooth keyboard I got, or a generic USB keyboard I attached.

Connect a usb keyboard and a dvd drive and turn the device off. Press the hardware windows key when you reboot and it will put you into the bios where you can change the boot sequence.

For those that run into the same thing, you want to enable legacy USB support in the bios so that your keyboard is recognized. This may not be the case for all keyboards but it was for my older Microsoft one.

Installing Win8 DP for dual boot now...

What about the rolly ball game Labyrinth? Does it work correct? Mine doesn't even start, just a blank screen.

I can't for the life of me get to the BIOS screen or chose my startup drive. It does not detect my keyboard until its in Windows. When I try pushing the Home button as startup it shows for a split second a boot screen I think then just starts up Windows. Anyone know how to get it to boot off my thumb drive?
