Just purchased a Toshiba R25, was curious if I'd need a screen protector for it, or if the coating was sufficient?

The Toshiba screens are well coated with a textured outer layer. I would forgo a screen protector unless you are going to be writing with excessive force. Without a protector, the screen will probably look new longer than the rest of the unit!

As Barry noted, the screen protector is an overkill. All you have to do is keep your screen clean and it will be fine.

I have the r20 and in the beginning of this semester I was erasing the screen with the eraser of the stylus using long sweeping motions and next thing I know there were 2-3 scratches that actually are deep enough to be felt with my thumb nail and my eyes closed. I'll probably be accused of using excessive force and evidently I must have - just that I didn't mean to and wish i had a screen protector.
