Why not disable the service altogether? Also, how are you reassigning it? You may not need to kill the pen service every time depending on your method.

I use radial menu to edit the assigned button. I’m going to permanently disable it now. My mind had a lapse in thought lol. I’m hank you. I find that the radial menu right click doesn’t always work. I see this happen mostly in chrome.

    Nope.

I thought it was the cause of a pop-up about updates, but that was just a pop-up about updates that is caused by me not getting any more Samsung updates if I'm not having issues.

Hey guys, i recently purchased the upgraded NP9 15" and wanted to know if anyone got PS to work smoothly while using the AMD graphics card. My brushes seem to have a huge delay when I use it, but if i turn off the GPU via PS, it becomes silky smooth.

You update your AMD drivers? Did you try selecting performance mode in the driver’s tool tray icon?

I’ve had no problems here. I usually work with images over 4K in dimension. No problems or hiccups at all. I’ve updated my drivers but other than that I’ve not touched any settings in photoshop

I tried to update my amd drivers but it caused mouse pointer lag during general usage. To resolve that issue I ended up installing older drivers. Currently I'm using 17.7.1 drivers.

In the Amd more options window, I set all my photoshop programs to use high performance mode, but I would still get brush lag.

Another issue to note but I feel may be unrelated to each other. I'm only getting 2~3 hour battery life based on batterybar pro when idle.

    Thanks for all the help!

@Piratechip Mouse pointer lag during regular use? That sounds very odd. And you've got Windows updated too? I'm stumped.

@surfaceproartist It's not a mouse pointer lag but when i right click to bring up the menu on the desktop it occasionally hangs for a second.

Also i just did a fresh windows re-install, that seemed to have solved my battery issues somewhat. Seems like Windows defender was the culprit. It was constantly using 12~20% of my cpu processor.

What i did notice is that, when if I use the intel graphics, there is no brush lag. This only happens when I use the AMD graphic card. A little googling and I saw this happens on surface books too, but that's with nvidia.

By any chance could you tell me which AMD drivers you are currently running? and after you installed the new drivers does it list your GFX card as AMD 500 series, or does it list it as AMD 540. I noticed after installing new drivers prior to my fresh reinstall it would list the graphics as the 500 series. Not sure if that's normal.

Again thank you for all the help, it's greatly appreciated!

@Piratechip I've got the 7th generation N9P. The AMD driver is 17.12.1 and it does list the device as a 500 Series.
