But I mostly hold the phone in my hand uusing portrait. Same with the tablets.
That dual purpose kick stand...
To get to talking about real devices again...
Apparently Daniel Rubino from Windows Central talked to his sources some more and one thing they got wrong is that both of the new devices will use on-screen navigation buttons instead of the dedicated capacitive ones. Hopefully that'll keep the bezel size down some.
My kids all have Samsung "S" series phones. Two of them just broke on the same day. Both were from single drops that my Nokia Lumia 928 (with no protection) would have shrugged off. It gives me pause about the durability of the Samsung phones. Note owners ... do you think your Note 4 is fragile? My Lumia 928 spends most of its time in my back pocket. Can you do that with the Note?
I think with drops it depends a lot on the user, luck of the angle it impacts with, the surface it lands on. With my Windows phone, it survived many drops for almost two years. I gave it to my wife when I got my GN4 and she shattered the screen within a week. She's done that to every phone she has ever owned. With her S5, I bought a case. I've never used a case with any phone and I've never broken one. That said, I've dropped my GN4 several times on my hard wood floor from my recliner with no obvious damage. Once I dropped it on the tile floor in a Wal-Mart and the back popped off, but it was ok.
As for the back pocket... dunno, I never carry anything in my back pocket, too uncomfortable for me. I carry mine in the thigh pocket of my cargo pants =) It also fits in the front pockets, but it is a little big there.
"To dream the impossible dream..."
I carry my GN3 in a front pocket of my pants. I do take it out when I sit down, or I can't get it out of my pocket if the phone rings without having to stand up! I've got a snap-on case covering the back, sides and just the outside edge of the screen. It fits tight and neat. I've dropped the phone a few times on some hard surfaces, but no issues to date.
Man, that beautiful Surface phone! And it has what I went to the GN3 for...the pen/screen!! When are those Surface phones going to be on the market??!
Its not a real product, just the beautiful design of an enthusiast and design specialist
But that doesn't mean MS cannot pick it up and make it reality!
I can't remember the last time I bought a phone via my provider... And I don't know of any phone that is exclusive for one provider.
Thats because you don't live in the US. (If I recall correctly)
