Hi all. I encountered a prob with my tx1316au. I did a vista recovery then applied sp1. But I just couldnt have any pictures/videos displayed on screen.

    Procedurs I'd taken:
    1. Backup all data.
    2. Use Vista Recovery DVD to do recovery. All using factory presets without changing anything.
    3. After that download all drivers and reapplied to computer.
    4. Downloaded Vista SP1, md5 verified, installed, successfully.
    5. Applied Windows Updates with all newest hotfixes applied successfully.
    6. Downloaded Newest K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, selected Full codec with players.

    Problems I encountered:
    1. When I open the following pictures format: .jpg, .gif,. bmp using Windows Photo Gallery, it just freezed right there. I opened up Task Manager, found out that the photo gallery occupied 100% of one cpu core.
    2. Then I opened up any movies .avi (xvid) using Media Player Classic, it appears to have same symtoms. I tried to use other type of output such as VMR7 or VMR9.. but it also the same.

    Possible solutions I tried:
    1. Reinstall newest Nvidia driver provided by HP.com. Helpless.
    2. Unistall Nvidia driver, use factory provided driver. Helpless.
    3. Use other media player, such as VLC, also cant use it..

    Possible errors:
Is't something to do with DirectX overlay something? I just cant figure out how to set it.

I need any experienced guy to help me on this issue.. I dont want to go back XP SP3.. Thx all..

    God bless ya..

    Rgds,
    JacobT.

Hi all. I'd resolve the issue.

    Solutions:
Adjust the decidated RAM to higher value. Previously i changed it to 16mb when it's in XP. Now all works perfectly without any problems arises.

I like Vista+SP1 so much. If it has a customisable 25 point linearization it'll do the tricks.

Thx all for your time. I'd been researching it for 2 weeks.. accidentally found the solution.. haha..

    God bless all..
