I don't like the current state of WOA - and no one would argue that it is under-powered even on the 855, but since it is a clear path away from the dictatorship of Intel; it's an opportunity for MS to control the whole ecosystem while still letting other OEM's play in the sandbox; and possible path to a stable SYSTEM (OS and software) - it makes sense. In the meantime I'll continue to rant for a LOCKED DOWN, no more FEATURE-ITIS, stable combination of Windows-Office- CC that ONLY gets bug fixes and security patches.

Yes when I was much younger and more stupid.... I don't have a visual to accompany it, but I was working in a large office tower on one of the original IBM luggables (with the orange monochrome screen running OS2).

It had just crashed for the umpteenth time while I was trying to get our application to run. Next thing I know the computer was off the balcony and on the patio , seven floors below . I have no idea how that happened...…..

My boss at the time did the right thing though and made me pay to repair it out of my own pocket.

You needed a good lawyer my friend - clearly a case of computer suicide if I ever heard of one...

A crash, is a crash, is a crash...

PS - OS2 - really - blame it on the boss for imposing that on you to begin with...clearly the computer was schizophrenic...

The amazing part of this story is that it was repairable!

I know - that's impossible to imagine, but those old luggables were built like tanks - most likely needed a new internal monitor and hard drive (well, and case, keyboard, floppy drive - didn't those have 5.25"). Come to think of it @desertlap must have lost a couple of months' salary on that...

Well I will say this, that generation was when IBM was still making them themselves and while their systems were not the fastest or state of the art in specs they were famous for their mechanical reliability.

In fact, the aforementioned unit that took the swan dive only suffered a cracked case and broken PS@ keyboard connector.

Unbelievable - you sneeze in a computer's direction anymore and they shutdown.
