I use my tablet everyday for my class notes (not homework... still like the feel of paper for engineering, may change next semester) Other than the battery problem that many have experienced I would say go with the Asus hands down. I swapped in a 7200rpm harddrive for faster resume from hibernate times and also put another 1GB of ram in and it runs faster than my current desktop(granted the windows install on it is 3+ years old and needs cleaning up). I would suggest using Microsoft Onenote if you school is a partner with the academic alliance , great little program.

What are the actual dimensions for the R1f screen? I'm asking because if it's the size of an A4 paper, then it has an aspect ratio of 1.4, while the resolution ratio is 1280x800, a ratio of 1.6. Wouldn't this lead to distorted sizes, having different ratios for the screen and resolution?

screen is 11.2" by 7". ratio 1.6, same as the pixel resolution, no distorted pixels.

I've just put in the other 1GB Kingston (totally 2GB) I bought for $20AR, it works well. Windows Vista experience index goes from 2.2 to 3.1. Yet, I don't feel performance improvement from light normal use.
