I just called Portable One Portable One in California (Note: I have ordered from them before - great company).

I noticed that they have the R1E listed ASUS R1 (R1E-B1 T7700) to see if it is in stock. He said yes, takes about 2-3 business days to ship.

I am seriously looking for a new laptop.

ASUS W7S, F9S, R1E, or Portable One SX

The R1E is moving to the top of the list - but I have not seen any reviews AT ALL - only on the R1F.

Anyone get there hands on an R1E?

Would love a DETAILED review (comparing it to the R1F).

    Also - any thoughts on the R1E vs. W7S or F9S ????

Indeed laptop looks amazing. What is it weight btw?
Funny thing is that it is cannot yet be found on www.asus.com.

So, officially it doesn't exist :)

So, there is no possibility to connect it to external display? Only S Video that is, as I understand, is good for movies but not for external displays.

Well hot diggity...I saw that listing not too far back, but I assumed it was just a placeholder for preorders. Thanks for the heads up. :)

I just sent them an email to ask confirmation on the SPDIF, optional e-sata, and expresscard options, since their site doesn't list those, but the R1E's user manual from the FCC did.

That list of specs is missing a lot of things that were in the manual, including the VGA port, so I'd view it with a grain of salt.

Not to mention...it says 2.4GHz at the top of the page, but 2.0GHz in that list at the bottom. I'm guessing the page needs some clean-up.

I need to pull the trigger soon...

After hearing all the issues with the R1F, I am a little hesitant.

    My laptop just broke too.
I MAY take the plunge - will have to sleep on it tonight.

HEY - don't going buying up all the stock today - leave one for me - just incase!

    True -

Also looks like they only have the T7700 listed.

I would call them and get more information (Patrick is who I spoke with very helpful guy). I know it is very NEW - so maybe they have not included all the information on the webpage.

It would be nice to know if they offer any other processors versions - or is it only the T7700?

My credit card is starting to heat up!

Oh Hell::::: I will just call them right now and get the details.

    OK...Just called Patrick back...

He said it's very new and they have not updated their website and the ASUS site doesn't have the specs updated yet for the R1E.

However, he "THINKS" it does have VGA. However, he told me to send him an email with any questions and he will look at all the specs and questions and shoot me back a response by tomorrow.

Any other questions (other than VGA), that you want me to ask?

BTW: They only have the T7700 in stock.

It sure is interesting that they all come with either a modular hard drive kit or modular bay battery....interesting, as in "nice".

Hopefully that card reader is fast enough to fully support readyboost, and can fit compactflash and sdhc cards.

Are they not including the cases anymore?

Anyway, the only thing that matters is that they fixed the battery issues. If it doesn't have long battery life, there's no chance that I'd buy one no matter the price or other features.
