Ok so it's finally ready for testing. I've written a front end for ipkg, and configured it to download and install ipkg from the optware feed .

Make sure you are able to connect to the internet before running QtPacker for the first time.

pbarette has started a repository, I also built one, but there is no software in it , and the software also hooks up to a compatible optware feed so there are a lot of libraries and console packages available (vim, ssh, etc.).

If you install ssh you can rcp files onto and off of your eee note!

    Please post all feedback.
This link now is working. It was updated 21 Oct 2011 00:53 Australian EST
    Get the software here: freeenote.org/downloads/installs/qtpacker.zip

I'm going to bed now, man I'm gunna be tired at work tomorrow!

BTW Thanks to Hyperblade for his work on the setup scripts (see post 4)
Also thanks to PBarrette for making the feed with the 'fun' software for the Eee Note.

    1) Unpack the zip file to the root directory of a micro sd card. you should see a file named "dvt_check" and a folder named "install". both of these MUST be in the ROOT DIRECTORY of the card.

    2) Power off your Eee note by holding down the power button for 5 seconds.

    3) Insert the micro sd card.

    4) Power on your Eee Note. You should see a new icon called "Package Manager" on the second page of your launcher.

    5) Ensure you have internet access, then tap the Package Manager icon. The Package manager will install opkg (or ipkg? whatever.) from the optware repositories. It will set up paths and init scripts, and add the optware, pbarette, and original repositories to your package list.

    6) After completing the install, the package manager will ask you to restart your Eee Note. Make sure you completely power down by holding the power button for 5 seconds.

    7) Power up and enjoy!

    Hi All,

Here's a screenshot of the package manager in operation (click for the full size):

The feed shown is the one on the FreeeNote website. I hope to keep expanding the feed with the additional applications that have been ported.

If you are interested in adding a package to the feed, or creating an experimental feed, please let me know.

I cannot see any packages either. It says "lpkt did not respond as expected". No programs are loaded. What have I dont wrong?
I already have the packages that pbarrette showed in his picture installed in the EEE note. Is there anything that I have not done?

    Thanks for the answer.

Run "ipkg update" in qconsole. This should help (remember to turn wifi on before running qconsole).
