It is fully waterproof, extra fans in the craddle are not going to do much.

The main point of the cradle is to enable using the Q704 as desktop, so that you can have bigger screen and big keyboard and mouse, without having to plug in at least 4 or 5 wires, mouse, keyboard, display, power, LAN, every time you want to use it as desktop.

You could use Keyboard Docking Station (with keyboard, touchpad, ports and battery) as docking cradle, but it costs $220 more than Performance Docking Cradle, which is also more stable, less likely to flip over.

To throw some more confusion in here, I emailed Fujitsu concerning the "Performance Dock" and this is their response:

So it seems we really need to see what the processor is doing voltage and temp wise to get a clearer picture.

    Emailed Fujitsu, No answer...

Pulled latest Geekbench numbers for Surface pro 2 , venue 11 pro and the Q704

    Tablet-benchmark

    disappointing to say the least.

The Q704 does barely better than the Atom dell in multi core performances, way under the Surface pro 2

Weird. With this price, this machine should be a powerhouse. I was about to buy it, but now I am re-evaluating the whole thing....If you don't mind me asking, how is the stylus (what is the level of pressure sensitivity)?

It looks like the Q704 has the same issues as the Q702. I have a Sony Duo 11 i5-3317u@1.7Ghz and a Q702 i5-3427u@1.8Ghz and the Sony is a much more responsive system. Although the Q702 has the faster cpu it feels much slower. It's a shame as I was planning to replace my Q702 with a Q704 as the specs were really good. LTE, i7, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD and 1920x1080 display.

A glimmer of Hope, Someone succeeded to get 96% of a surface pro 2 with I5-4300U performance with a Q704 using an I7-4600U
    Still not great, but progress.
The question is did he do anything special for that, was he using the Docking cradle... ?

Maybe he took advantage of the better-than-average water cooling compatibility.

    - Close the ports
    - Start Geekbench
    - Put the Q704 in water bucket full of 5-10°C water
    - ????
    - Profit

Okay got a Q704 it is the I7-4600U 8GB of RAM, has the slim keyboard option (no battery). Fujitsu preloaded Win7 pro on it, but are sending me discs to put windows 8 pro back on. What tests, etc do people want me to try????

Just ran the Q704 I7-4600U on geekbench and got Single Core 2093 Multi-Core 3144 - This was on the default balanced profile.
Just ran the Surface pro I5-3317U on geekbench and got Single Core 2270 Multi-Core 4609 - This was on the default balanced profile.

I am just running the free version of geekbench as I have not bought a license, so I can only run the 32bit version. I did notice the Q704 fan during the benchmark and when compared to the surface it is much louder!
