I did try that. Setting to passive doesn't change anything.
More seriously, thank you for sharing anything on that long awaited tablet, and hopefully the fan is a workable issue.
I just envy you
You do have an I7, and I was actually wondering how big of a difference there would be between the I5 and I7 Vpro regarding power consumption and heat.
Given the I7 is only 14% more powerful, I was thinking it may be worth it to give that up for less power consumption and heat.
On another note may we ask how/where you got the tablet, as the ship date is January 14th ?
Also, the screen is supposed to be anti-glare, is it a semi matte screen, or a glossy one with anti-glare treatment, and if so how good (or bad) is it at cutting off reflections inside a house?
Thanks in advance for all the feedback.
And to complement that question, how is the outdoor visibility of the screen in shade and full sunlight? Reflections? Maybe you could take a couple photos of the screen outdoors?
How is the keyboard, how distinct is it?
So ... the fan is running most, or all, of the time non stop and the tablet still lasts 8 hours ? (alone without the keyboard) ?
Also, could we bother you to run a geekbench3 on it ? -->
Download Geekbench 3 - Primate Labs
I will run Geekbench in the morning.
The screen is not anti-glare. It is a glossy screen.
I haven't had it outside but will report tomorrow.
As for how I got it, I just ordered it from shopfujitsu.com
Thanks for the additional info! How do the keys on the keyboard feel? That really is too bad they are not backlit. Maybe enough to make me get the T904 which would be a thinner overall notebook package at 17mm vs. 31mm for the Q704 + keyboard docking station or 20mm for Q704 + keyboard cover. But of course you can't beat the 12mm-thick Q704 solo tablet, not to mention the IPX8 dust/waterproof rating. I do wonder if the keyboard docking station is IPX8-rated as well; I doubt it.
Also I'm still curious about wobble and flex (and creak) of the total unit with the keyboard docking station (battery keyboard base).
I'm also hoping you can disable the power-saving when off the battery keyboard base if desired.
The datasheet lists both "Anti-Glare" and "Glossy" in the display description. There must be some mild anti-glare coating although it still unfortunately shows reflections, just like the T904.
Ouch! (10 char)
Here is the Geekbench result: FUJITSU STYLISTIC Q704 - Geekbench Browser
The keys on the keyboard feel great. The trackpad, not so much. It's serviceable but not great.
There really is very little creak to the system. I feels very solid.
Thank you for that Sir !
It must have been in throttle-down mode (it does that when unplugged from power). So ... it seems the performance while undocked is equivalent to an ATOM Z3770 (half of a typical 4600U system).
It would be great to confirm if it was unplugged, and if so to rerun plugged .
