You know what would have been cool? If you could somehow fold the keyboard all the way to the back of the tablet and still be connected. That way you can use the device in tablet mode (as oppose to clam shell like laptop) and still have the benefits of the extra battery juice.

Just ordered the "preorder;" it says it will ship 3/19. I'll post back if/when I get it. I only have an original touch cover (sucks) with my SP1, so literally anything has got to be a huge improvement for typing, and anything over the 3-4 hours I currently on battery will be worth the expense.

Fun fact: the power cover is heavier than the iPad Air.

i don't need backlit keys. in fact i've never had a keyboard with one.

i am usually in dark rooms, and have gotten used to typing with just the light from the screen, by touch.

not sure why it's a feature that people want.

anyways, i'll get one of these, once the price comes down.

i'm using the bluetooth wireless keyboard right now, and it works fine,
but the extra battery power would be great.

i wonder if you can use two keyboards at once. that way i could
use the better keyboard to type?

Would have bought it as well if it had backlit keys. Using the Type Cover 2 and the IntoCircuit Powercastle battery pack for now.

I'm confused... is it known that the power cover cant do this? The type and touch covers both fold back all the way. The product page for the power cover states it can do this as well actually.

I'm tempted, but worried about the extra weight + cost. Selling my used Type cover 2 might help with the cost, but then I'm not sure I even want to do that.

Lack of backlit keys is less "pretty" but doesn't bother me.
I only need to see the keys when trying to access some obscure Fn combo.

I'm also confused about the fold back comment. As for backlit KB, the extra battery life is especially nice on long flights in dimly lit cabins. It would be nice not to have to turn on the seat light to see the keys.

The irony: to see the keys you'd turn on the seat light, which causes you to turn up the screen brightness, which kills the battery. I guess I'll just stay off those 10h overnight flights and stick with the type cover.

Edit: as Nippero pointed out the MS info page literally states "Simply fold Power Cover back like a book cover for the full touchscreen experience." so that clarifies that!
