Top of my library suggestion as well. Love that book!

I've taken the T902 out for digital "plein air" as well and its lots of fun. Although I still prefer the freedom of movement with a toned sketchpad, pencils and pentel ink brush when roaming around outside.

Just thought I'd third Gurneys "Light and Color". A very useful and insightful book. I also agree re: Plein air work- though I've seen some amazing stuff done digitally, I much prefer the experience of pen and paper still.

I should also mention that our own user, frog (AKA Richard Yot), who started this very thread, also has a great book called "Light for visual artists". It's not a painting guide, but rather an explanation of different lighting concepts that can be applied to any kind of art. Well worth picking up.

Maybe this will tempt him to post again .... frooooooooooooooog come baaaaaaaaaaaaack

    Hey,
So I bought a new toy the other week, a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8010.

I'm in Tasmania for a holiday and wasn't willing to take my x230t along due to the bulk of it.
I picked it up for AUD $250.00 used on Gumtree.com.au along with a Belkin case, I get heaps of great stuff off of there... My x230t and my DTU-2231 for example.
Decent price, most were hovering between $200-350 depending.
Anyway, I was in Tassie for a week for some "R and R" before summer hits and work picks up and was wanting something to doodle with besides paper and something to watch movies as I can't stand television.

Anyway, my first actual sketch in SBP on Android.
The stylus is pretty good for its size, I didn't take my larger stylus' as I wanted something extremely portable, nor did I want to lose them.

Drawn at Saint Davids Park next to the Supreme Court of Tasmania, sitting in the sun eating ciabatta, brie and prosciutto with a coffee... I've gotta say, I did get some odd looks from men in suits... But bugger them, I was enjoying it.

Loving the device so far, the battery life is fantastic, coupled with a portable battery pack it's a win!
Here's hoping to me drawing more frequently.

Dude. You draw for a living! And you want to draw more?! That's like me saying, here is me hoping I do more journal entries and balance sheets more often....

    Ha!
I do freelance animation and design when I can, but its infrequent.
Recently picked up another job though, so thats a win!

I prostitute myself in hospitality as a cook, have done for about 5ish years.
Gotta have something to pay the bills and buy myself gadgets. ;)
Planning for this to be my last summer though, hopefully by March/April I won't have to do this anymore.

The job I just picked up is from my old head chef.
He roasts his own coffee and sells it, business has been picking up for him so he's needing packaging designed.
Hopefully this will enable both him and I to ditch hospitality! Haha.

(Anyone know how to reply to a post on tapatalk?)

There is a little text slot all the way to the bottom with a label "Quick Reply". If you want to quote, then tap on the post once and you'd have additional options on the top right corner such as, "Like, Quote, Share, etc. This is with the Android version. Haven't used the Windows 8 version in a while.

:D Thought you are a full time illustrator. Good luck with the new gig
