Took a chance and bought a copy of Flash 8 Professional from a friend; I'm no animator but I have had fun playing with it and here's my first very rough and very short test.

I might go ahead and do a proper storyboard and plan a proper little short out - depending on my skills and patience.

The shoulders are a little rough but here's my 2nd serious attempt at trying to animate..
Eventually when I've cleaned it up I'll add his tail swishing and remove the blocking in skeleton underneath. If I feel brave I might go for a blink here or there.

The drawings are done in Flash 8 Professional on my old Fujitsu T5010 using the brush tool which I never knew had a pressure sensitive setting.

Bottom (my) right drawing is a fabulous bit of positive and negative drawing.

Shortened the length of the walk and tightened up quite a few bits. All done in old Flash 8 professional.

I tried drawing on my desktop with a Wacom Intuos with Flash CS6 and another machine with CS5.5 - the brush tool is just horrible on an Intuos.

The brush tool works really well on a tabletpc though, the only problem is the calibration to scrub the timeline bar at the top of the Flash interface and that's where you really see the failings of a Wacom digitiser

I was very close to preordering the Surface Pro 3 yesterday evening but decided to sleep one more night over it. This morning i fired up the Asus EP121 again and did this sketch. And i'm instantly cured from my wish to preorder the SP3. I really need a customizable short cut interface and a larger than 12" screen for more than sketch work. I'm spoiled by my 24 HDt Cintiq.
