Would someone explain why there is no visible indicator for when one uses the special key / function key to disable a trackpad on Windows 10?

I just bought a new keyboard 'cause I'd apparently inadvertently hit FN F5 turning my trackpad on my Toshiba Bluetooth Keyboard off --- apparently managed to do the same thing to the new one.

All it would take is a little icon in the notification area....

Anyway, does anyone know the magical key combination on an IBM USB Travel Keyboard with Ultranav to enable/disable the Trackpoint? Doesn't seem to be F8 or FN F8 as expected.

Turns out the problem is actually that Windows d/ls and installs a driver which disables the Trackpoint/trackpad. Solution is to d/l and install the right one:

    j5gc16ww.exe
